Nick Brown

Nick joined Lloyd’s Register in 1996 and was appointed CEO in January 2021. In an extensive career with LR, he has worked as a ship surveyor in Bahrain, Dubai, Finland and Germany before moving to China to spend seven years leading LR’s activities in the country.

He has since been Director for Business Development and Innovation, Marine Chief Operating Officer and Marine and Offshore Director.

His focus as CEO is to deliver Lloyd’s Register’s vision of ‘working together for a safe, sustainable and thriving ocean economy’, improving the performance, safety and sustainability of their clients’ businesses through LR’s trusted advice, insight and expertise.

Nick is a graduate of Nottingham University, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a Member of both the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.

Nick holds prominent roles in several key maritime organisations. He sits on the Supervisory Board of the UK Chamber of Shipping, the Advisory Council of the Global Maritime Forum, and the Maritime International Advisory Panel in Singapore. These positions highlight his significant influence and expertise in the global shipping and maritime industry.

Michael Kasbar is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of World Fuel Services Corporation and a member of the company’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Kasbar assumed his current role in 2012. Previously, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for driving the expansion in the marine and aviation industries and subsequently entering the ground fuel logistics, financial technology, software, natural gas, power and sustainability businesses.

Mr. Kasbar received a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. He currently serves as a member of the Business Roundtable.

Patrizia Kern-Ferretti is an innovative leader in the use of technology and risk intelligence to drive the global marine insurance industry towards sustainability.

Her career spans +20 years, during which she has managed marine insurance teams across Europe. Since 2012, she has been leading Swiss Re’s global marine business for Corporate Solutions, with responsibility for the unit’s cargo and hull business. During this time, she helped grow Corporate Solutions’ marine business, managing a large global matrix organization and business with a footprint across North America, Latin America, EMEA & APAC.

She chairs the Poseidon Principles for Insurance (PPMI), the “Big-Data and Digitalization Forum” and the “Nominating Committee” of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI).

Patrizia is Advisory Board member of the Lloyd’s Register and of the Global Maritime Forum (GMF), working on the “Getting to Zero Coalition”.

Paolo Enoizi

Paolo Enoizi

Chief Executive Officer, Gaslog

Paolo is the CEO of GasLog Ltd, one of the leading LNG shipping and infrastructure company based in Greece operating 35 vessels, 3 newbuildings under construction and 1 FSRU. Prior joining GasLog in 2019 Paolo was the Managing Director of Stolt Tankers in Rotterdam and before worked as Managing Director in his shipmanagement family company, in the ABS London engineering division and as an insurance broker in the London market.

Paolo serves as Director of HiLo an industry-leading maritime risk management platform, of Gastrade Ltd. the terminal company that operates FSRU in Greece, is a member of the Advisory Council and the All Aboard Alliance within the Global Maritime Forum.

Recently he has taken the position of Executive Chairman of ECOLOG Ltd a start-up that develops mid-stream projects for CO2 capture, transportation and sequestration as well as the logistic supply chain for liquid H2 including terminal and shipping services.

Paolo is a council member of Intertanko and previously member of the ISTEC committee.

Alexander Hadjipateras

Alexander C. Hadjipateras serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Dorian. Mr. Hadjipateras has served as Senior Executive Vice President of Dorian LPG (USA) LLC and Managing Director of Dorian LPG Management Corp. (Athens) since July 2022 and previously held the role of Executive Vice President of Business Development. Mr. A. Hadjipateras' main areas of focus are commercial strategy, sale and purchase, and the management of the Company's operations in Athens, Greece.

Since November 2016, Mr. Hadjipateras has served as a Director on the Members Committee of the UK P&I Club. Mr. Hadjipateras has worked closely with major energy companies to secure approval for future time charter and newbuilding business development opportunities. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. A. Hadjipateras worked as a Business Development Manager at Avenue A / Razorfish, a leading digital consultancy and ad-agency based in San Francisco. Mr. A. Hadjipateras graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and holds an EMBA from HEC Paris.

Toshiaki Tanaka is a Representative Director, Executive Vice President and Executive Officer of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), and provides overall strategic assistance to the President and CEO as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Tanaka is also responsible for Promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Technology & Digital Integration Unit. Since Nov 2023, he has been the Director General, Headquarters of Technological & Digital Transformation.

Before assuming his current position, he was appointed Senior Managing Executive Officer of MOL in April 2021, Managing Executive Officer in April 2017, Executive Officer of MOL in June 2014, and General Manager of the Coal and Iron Ore Carrier Division in June 2011. Prior to this, he had been made General Manager of Mitsui O.S.K. Bulk Shipping (Europe) Ltd. in London in October 2003, responsible for the Coal and Iron Ore Business in the Atlantic market.

He joined Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. in April 1984, and was named as a Manager of the Coal and Iron Ore Carrier Team in the Coal and Iron Ore Carrier Division in June 1999. He possesses extensive professional experience in the Dry Bulk Business.

He graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Hitotsubashi University, in March 1984.

Dr Tristan Smith

Reader in Energy and Shipping, University College London

Dr Tristan Smith, Reader at UCL, has led over multiple research projects into shipping’s decarbonization, and has grown a substantial shipping emissions research group. He holds a PhD and training in naval architecture. His primary interests of research are low carbon shipping, the development and implementation of technologies, and operational practices for the reduction of CO2 emissions from shipping. He attends IMO MEPC and associated meetings as a delegate of RINA and IMarEST.

Tristan led the Third IMO GHG study, is a lead author of ISO 19030, is a contributing author to work published at the IMO, at UNEP, in the UK Committee on Climate Change, IMF, as well as a number of academic books and papers. He helped found and is a Director of UMAS, through which he has led consultancy work for a number of organizations including Shell, IEA, INTERTANKO. He is a co-chair of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition’s maritime activity and serves on several shipping industry advisory boards.

Jan Dieleman

Jan Dieleman, Chair

President and Group Leader, Cargill Ocean Transportation

Jan Dieleman is the President of Cargill Ocean Transportation and is based in Geneva, Switzerland. He has spent more than 20 years at Cargill and has successfully managed businesses in the U.S. and Europe.

Jan first joined the company in 1999 as a management trainee in Amsterdam. He spent the next 10 years gaining experience as a trading manager in the freight, grain and energy markets, before being appointed head of Cargill’s coal trading business in 2012.

He went on to lead Cargill’s North America power and gas unit in Houston, Texas, before returning to Geneva in 2016 as president of Cargill Ocean Transportation. At the same time, he was invited to join Cargill’s global corporate risk committee.

Across the maritime sector, Jan is a respected advocate for sustainable shipping, actively supporting reduced emissions, better vessel environmental performance, safer working conditions, and a more diverse workforce.

He is chair of the Global Maritime Forum, non-executive board member of RightShip, advisory board member of Lloyds Register and a member of the board of advisors for London International Shipping Week 2025.

Jan graduated from the University of Maastricht with a master’s degree in economics, marketing and organization.
